Kotzebue, Alaska – Sept. 24, 2010 – NANA Regional Corporation, Inc. (NANA) announced the appointment by the board of directors of Michael Tickett, to the vacant Shungnak seat.
Mr.Tickett is a current member of the Shungnak IRA Council Executive Committee and of the NANA Regional Council of Elders. He previously served on the Maniilaq Association board. Mr.Tickett will serve the remainder of the term for the seat left vacant by Eugene Douglas’ resignation earlier this year.

NANA’s Board of Directors is elected by the corporation’s more than 12,000 Iñupiat shareholders. It is made up of Iñupiat leaders paving the way for the continuation of the subsistence way of life, culture and Inuit identity. Two Iñupiat shareholder board members from each NANA village (with the exception of Kotzebue with one board seat), and two “at large” directors serve three year terms.
The board composition ensures that every decision and board action benefits NANA shareholders and will positively affect the future generations of the Iñupiat people and the Iñupiat way of life.
