NANA Development Corporation (NDC) was founded by NANA Regional Corporation in 1974. NDC is a wholly owned subsidiary responsible for managing its portfolio of businesses.

NANA Regional Corporation, Inc. (NANA) is one of 13 Alaska Native Regional Corporations created under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) of 1971. NANA was incorporated in Alaska on June 7, 1972. NANA is the owner of a diversified holding company with business assets in the federal, commercial, mining, and oil and gas sectors. NANA is headquartered in Kotzebue, Alaska, with offices in Anchorage, Alaska, and has operations across all 50 states, 15 countries and four continents.

NDC seeks to recruit for the position of:


Reporting to NANA’s Chief Executive Officer, the Commercial Group President will have overall responsibility for NANA’s multiple commercial businesses and joint-venture interests.  Together with the Commercial Group’s other functional leaders, senior-most executives of NMS, NWP, Tuuq Drilling, Paa River Construction and Construction and Engineering will report through boards or directly to the Commercial Group President.  This individual will provide leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to deliver ultimate growth in the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the company and aligned with the strategy developed and agreed by the Board.

The ideal candidate has senior management experience and must demonstrate strong leadership skills and have experience directing a major business in a productivity improvement and expansion mode.  Candidates must also have experience managing within a multi-company configuration. Business process knowledge will be required in this role, as well as a demonstrated track record in leading organizational change, while at the same time being respectful of company culture. This senior leader must able to travel and work in remote locations, and drive change while respecting the organization, stakeholders and values. A passion for customers and building superb commercial and marketing organizations will be essential to this executive's success. S/he must be able to understand how value is created for customers, and leverage that knowledge for the mutual benefit of the company and the customer.

Candidates must also demonstrate intellectual horsepower and a balance of both strategic thinking skills and execution capability. The Commercial Group President must have the breadth of experience, personal maturity, interpersonal skills and diplomacy to interact effectively with all levels and functions within the organization including The Board of Directors. Above all, we seek a strong leader who can communicate effectively at all levels, listen well, and lead profitable growth throughout the entire business cycle. Ideally, candidates will have the capability and potential to be a successor to the CEO.
