Red
Dog Mine
Northwest Arctic Region of Alaska
The need for regional job opportunities for NANA shareholders
led to the development of the Red Dog Mine on NANA land
in partnership with Teck Cominco. Red Dog has the world's
richest concentration of zinc, and is the major employer
in the region. Many of NANA's companies and partners
provide services there. For example, NANA Management
Services provides facilities management, housekeeping
and food service on a daily basis.
NANA
and Teck Cominco are concerned with protecting the environment
and the subsistence lifestyle of our people. Red Dog's
goal is to be the environmental model for the mining
industry.
